Closely linked with our work on vision in sport, perceptual-cognitive skill focuses on the ability of an individual to identify and process information, integrate it with existing knowledge and motor capabilities, and select and execute a response. Our work in this area focuses on:
- Anticipation and decision making in sport with a particular focus on cricket batting.
- Using virtual environments to test and train game understanding.
- Understanding how the context of the game can enhance anticipation.
- The interaction between visual and contextual information.
- Bayesian active inference approaches to understanding the role of the responder in anticipation skill.
